GPA FAQs
Unweighted GPA caps at 4.0 — an A is 4.0 whether the class was regular or AP. Weighted GPA adds bonuses (typically +0.5 for honors, +1.0 for AP/IB), so it can reach 5.0. Colleges often recalculate both ways, which is why the weighted GPA calculator shows your unweighted figure alongside.
Use the percentage-to-GPA calculator, which maps your percent through real lookup tables on the 4.0 scale. Going the other direction, the GPA-to-percentage converter uses the standard linear mapping. Note that some schools use their own conversion tables — check yours if precision matters.
